Learn To Play Day

Learn To Play Day. Sunday 24th March

Every so often we like to throw our doors wide open to people of all ages and musical abilities and invite everyone to pick up an instrument and get playing as part of a nationwide event.

This year’s Learn To Play Day will be held on Sunday 24th March and features workshops across many different instruments and styles ranging from family-friendly Samba classes to Guitar and Bass sessions as well as opportunities to have a go at playing Drums, Ukulele, Piano/Keyboards, Flute, Saxophone and Singing, all from our expert tutors.

We’ll also have our ever-popular DJ sessions and production workshops as well as a few new events happening at our Learn To Play Day for the very first time, including choir workshops run by Vocal Impact and some new Club Bongo sessions!

Our usual recording sessions, Band Jam workshop and ‘Have A Go’ room will all still feature.

All this plus competitions, amazing offers on beginners’ instruments and bundles, great meal deals in our café and money-raising activities for the wonderful Music For All charity, this is a day NOT to be missed!

On last year at Absolute Music we held our Learn To Play Day and offered free taster music lessons for everyone.

Thank you to the 100s of families that visited the award winning superstore and studios to enjoy FREE music workshops.

All ages took part in music activities such as recording, African drumming and DJ-ing plus lessons in saxophone, keyboard and guitar. For many it was the first time playing an instrument and have now been inspired to start lessons. Others had fun chatting to the experts including top tips from the UK DMC Champion, DJ X-Rated (Steve Philp).

It was a busy day for the store plus children enjoyed taking part in the tombola raising money for the trust. Local business Splashown Waterpark kindly supplied goodies and now keen to support the work that we do here at AMT.

Even though the original date was postponed due to the snow, over 500 people attended and we hope we  enriched their lives with music.
See what was said by some of the visitors:-

My kids loved it! Thank you to all the tutors who helped them today.

Wow, the my son and daughter had a brilliant time. It was the first experience of playing instruments and they are keen to do lessons now. An excellent event. Thank you.

I played the saxophone for the first time in 20 years.

Splashdown Waterparks:

We loved being involved and would like to do more events with you.

Learn To Play Day is a nationwide event and aims to offer FREE music lessons and workshops to people who might not have time or budget to otherwise learn an instrument. It is a fun and fantastic opportunity for all abilities to access music. Each year we open our doors and welcome every age to ‘pick up and play’. Visitors can also take a trip around our 2-storey store and watch the large music screen in the cafe.
